This blog is a democratic project and I need your help!
Though I was only able to include nine comedians in the version of this project that I turned in to the University of Florida, I plan to add more ASAP. Big names like Phyllis Diller, Whoopi Goldberg, Wanda Sykes, Ellen DeGeneres, Aparna Nancherla, Ali Wong, Amy Sedaris, Amy Poehler, and Samantha Bee are all comedians that I plan on adding in the future. However, adding comedians like these will not be the extent of my work.
I am looking for groundbreaking female and gender-nonconforming comedians to feature on this blog. I am particularly interested in featuring marginalized voices, such as those of people of color, immigrants, LGBTQ folks, and working-class people.
If you are a fan of a female or gender-nonconforming comedian that you think deserves to be featured on this blog, please contact me with their name and some information on the comedian. If you are a comedian yourself, DEFINITELY send me information about who you are and how your work is groundbreaking.
I want this blog to go beyond the history of women in comedy. I want this to be a place where up-and-coming comedians can share their work as well.
